Early Prenatal Care Program

Portico’s Early Prenatal Care Program offers free, short-term prenatal care for clients in the earliest weeks of pregnancy who may not yet have access to an OB provider.
This program helps bridge the gap between a positive pregnancy test and ongoing prenatal care—so you’re supported from the start.

 

Who is this Program for?

  • Clients who are 11 weeks pregnant or less
  • Clients who are uninsured and/or do not have an OB provider
  • Clients who have completed a pregnancy test and dating ultrasound at Portico
abortion pill reversal is possible

What We Offer

Care is provided by a Certified Nurse Midwife and Registered Nurse and is tailored to each client’s needs.

Most clients receive at least three prenatal visits, which may include:

Visit 1: Admission Visit
  • Review of medical and pregnancy history
  • Discussion of first-trimester symptoms
  • Education and support
  • Medication for nausea and vomiting if needed
Visit 2: Prenatal Testing
  • First-trimester prenatal labs (excluding genetic testing)
  • Pap smear if indicated
Visit 3: Discharge Visit
  • Continued education and support
  • Preparation for transition to an OB provider

Some clients may need additional visits based on their care needs.

Additional Care & Support

During early prenatal care, we may:

  • Treat anemia, some STIs, and urinary tract infections
  • Provide education on prenatal health, nutrition, and movement
  • Offer emotional support during a time that can feel overwhelming

Why Early Prenatal Care Matters

The first trimester can be physically uncomfortable and emotionally challenging—especially without medical support. This program helps ensure clients receive care, education, and reassurance while preparing for ongoing prenatal care.
